UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS TO PHOTOGRAPH THE PRESIDENT

MRS. KENNEDY RETURNS TO WHITE HOUSE FROM PALM BEACH

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) Fifty-seven years ago, February 4, 1961, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy returned to the White House from Palm Beach, Florida along with John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Mr. & Mrs. Kennedy were photographed along with their children at the South Entrance of the White House by National Park Service photographer Abbie Rowe*.


*Abbie Rowe (1905-1967) was born in Strasburg, Virginia.  He was given unprecedented access to the official activities of 5 POTUS, FDR, Truman, IKE, JFK & LBJ.  AR was hired in December 1941 at the request of President Franklin D. Roosevelt to photograph the president's activities.
