THE BATTLE OF THE CANAL DU NORD


CANADIANS SURPRISE GERMAN ARMY & TAKE 36500 POWS

Western Front, France  (JFK+50) On September 27, 1918, Canadian divisions, under cover of darkness, attacked the German army at the Battle of the Canal du Nord.  The battle, part of the Hundred Days Allied offensive, lasted from September 27 to October 1, 1918.

The Canadians, supported by the French First Army, took 36,500 prisoners of war as well as 380 guns.
