"TOGETHER WE SHALL SAVE OUR PLANET, OR TOGETHER WE SHALL PERISH IN ITS FLAMES"

JFK SPEAKS AT UNITED NATIONS

New York City (JFK+50) Today in the midst of an impeachment inquiry by the House of Representatives, President Donald J. Trump spoke at the United Nations.  On September 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy also addressed UN General Assembly.

President Kennedy, having been in office eight months, warned of the dangers of unconditional war in the nuclear age.  He said...

"A nuclear disaster, spread by wind and water and fear, could well engulf the great and the small, the rich and the poor, the committed and the uncommitted alike.  Mankind must put an end to war--or war will put an end to mankind."

The President went on to call for a treaty "assuring the end of nuclear tests of all kinds, in every environment, under workable controls."

JFK concluded...

"Together we shall save our planet, or together we shall perish in its flames.  Save it we can--and save it we must--and then we shall earn the eternal thanks of mankind and, as peacemakers, the eternal blessing of God."

*President Kennedy's speech to the General Assembly of the United Nations began at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time.
