KENNEDY-SCHOLOSSBERG WEDDING HELD IN CENTERVILLE
Centerville, Massachusetts (JFK+50) On July 19, 1986, Caroline Bouvier Kennedy*, daughter of President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy, married Edwin Scholossberg** at Our Lady of Victory Church here in Centerville***.
The matron of honor was Caroline's cousin Maria Shriver and her uncle Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy walked her down the aisle. Caroline's mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, planned the event.
The bride wore a beautiful white gown designed by Carolina Herrera. The bodice, according to About.com, was covered with embroidered shamrocks.
Caroline wore a tulle veil and carried a bouquet of orchids. Her earrings were a gift from her father to her mother.
There were 7 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls and 10 ushers. The reception following the service was held on the lawn of the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port. The 400 guests were entertained by singer Carly Simon.
*Caroline Bouvier Kennedy was born in New York City on November 27, 1957. She was 3 years old when her father was sworn in as POTUS and 6 when he was killed. CBK graduated from Radcliffe College (1980) & a law degree from Columbia Law School (1988).
**Dr. Edwin Arthur Scholossberg was born in New York City on July 19, 1945. He earned degrees at Columbia University. EAS founded ESI Design which specializes in interactive computerized displays. Ed was appointed US Commissioner of Fine Arts by President Obama in 2011.
***Centerville is one of 7 villages in the Town of Barnstable on Cape Cod. Primarily residential with a small business district & notable beaches.
