" BECAUSE LEGISLATION IS A VARIED SUBJECT"

HOW 'BOUT A SCHOOL FOR CONGRESSMEN?

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On November 24, 1920, the Washington Times reported that the Joint Conference on Reclassification was considering a proposal for a 'school for congressmen' on the subject of reclassification.

The Times article states...

"There are some...who believe that legislation is a varied subject and as such requires a fundamental education."

Since this article did not elaborate further, we had to 'go to school' ourselves and learned that the Democratic Platform of 1920 had this to say about reclassification...

"We recommend the work of the joint committee on the reclassification of salaries of postal employees.  The Democratic Party has always favored...the fair and just treatment of all government employees."
