"HARDING LOOKED ROBUST & VIGOROUS"

PRESIDENT-ELECT GOES FISHING & GOLFING IN TEXAS

Point Isabel, Texas (JFK+50) On November 9, 1920, Associated Press reported that President-elect Warren G. Harding began his vacation in Texas "outwardly as carefree as the happiest member of" the fishermen of Port Isabel*.

In the morning, the President-elect planned to fish and in the afternoon he was scheduled for a game of golf at the Brownsville Country Club.  AP reported that Senator Harding "looked robust and vigorous" despite having finished a strenuous presidential campaign.

The Senator would also take a cruise along the coast on a launch furnished by Texas Governor William P. Hobby**.
