"ONE OF THE 7 WONDERS OF THE MODERN WORLD"

EMPIRE STATE BUILDING DEDICATED

New York City (JFK+50) On May 1, 1931, President Herbert Hoover dedicated the Empire State Building* by pushing a button at the White House which symbolically turned on the lights of the world's tallest building.

The 102 story, 1250 feet skyscraper was designed by Shreve, Lamb and Harmon Associates and was built at a cost of $40,000,000. 

*Empire State Building is located in midtown Manhattan & is today the 7th tallest building in NYC, the 9th tallest in the USA, & the 49th tallest in the world.  It has been named as one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.
