AMERICAN LEGION WELCOMES DISTINGUISHED GUESTS TO D.C.
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On October 23, 1921, General Armando Diaz*, Admiral Lord David Beatty** and Lt. General Baron Jacques arrived here in Washington. The distinguished visitors are guests of the American Legion.
Arriving later in the day will be Major General Kunshiga Tanaka of Japan.
The guests will be escorted by police and cavalry from Union Station down Pennsylvania Avenue to their respective "stopping places."
*Armando Diaz (1861-1928) was born in Naples, Italy & is considered one of the great generals of WWI.
**Admiral David Beatty (1871-1936) was born in Stapeley, Cheshire, England & served in the Royal Navy 1884-1927. DB was 1st Sea lord 1919-1927.
