RUMORS OF GERMAN FAILURE TO DISARM CALLED NONSENSE BY BRITISH OFFICIAL
Berlin, Germany (JFK+50) On October 30, 1921, the Sunday Star published a front page story reporting that the chief British member of the disarmament commission has called rumors that Germany has invented 'a host of gargantuan war machines' pure nonsense.
The unnamed British officer said...
"If she is, it won't be in my day or yours."
and added...
"Wild tales concerning Germany's failure to disarm...and new...death-dealing inventions are...due to the...products of ignorance."
JFK+50 NOTE
German rearmament, carried out between WWI & WWII, was in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. It was primarily covert operations during the 1920s, but when the Nazis came to power in 1933, rearmament was enlarged and more aggressive.
