"MRS. BURKETT BROKE DOWN UPON READING OF VERDICT"

INDIANA WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF FORGING TR'S NAME TO $69,900 NOTE

New York City (JFK+50) On October 13, 1921, Mrs. Emma Richardson Burkett was convicted in Sessions Court of forgery.  The 46 year old woman from Hillsdale, Indiana had been charged with "forging the name of the late Colonel Theodore Roosevelt to a $69,900 note."

Mrs. Burkett broke down in tears upon the reading the jury verdict.  She will be sentenced on October 23rd.
