"I have set up square mile stones marked progressively with the number of miles from the beginning on Jones' Point to the West Corner to the North Corner to the East Corner and from thence to the beginning on Jones' Point."

 *Andrew Ellicott's Territory of Columbia was the first map of the Federal Territory commissioned by President George Washington.  It includes Pierre L'Enfant's Plan & the established port of Georgetown. It was the only official map of the entire "Territory of Columbia" for nearly seventy years.
