HARDING CONFERS WITH REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP ON PROGRAM
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On January 5, 1922, President Warren G. Harding "called into conference...a group of Senate Republican leaders for a prolonged discussion of legislative prospects in the present session of Congress."
The leaders attending included Senators Henry Cabot Lodge, Sr., Charles Curtis, James Watson, and Porter McCumber*. The topics discussed with the President by the Republican leadership included the tariff, and proposed bonus for servicemen.
The New York Tribune reports that after the conference another such meeting was to be scheduled because "conclusions had not been reached."
