"SAYS "I DO" & "I WILL" WITHOUT MISSING A SYLLABLE"

HALSEY WEDS SISTER OF EDISON'S SON

Newark, New Jersey (JFK+50) On February 2, 1922, Samuel Armstrong Halsey, personnel manager at the Edison works here in Newark, was married to Charlotte Woodruff Hawkins, sister of Charles Edison, son of the famous inventor Thomas Alva Edison.

The Evening Star reports that a year ago Mr. Halsey "scored a 'double A' on the...Edison questionnaire*" and did just as good a job in responding "without missing a syllable" with "I do" and "I will."

*The Edison Test included 146 questions by Thomas A. Edison to be given to potential employees in assessing their intellectual levels.

The inventor developed the test because he was frustrated with college-graduate applicants who were unqualified and mentally unfit for jobs with the Edison company.
