"SIX DAYS IN THE RAILROAD BELT"

PRESIDENT PLANS RAILROAD TRIP THROUGH ALASKA INTERIOR

Juneau, Alaska (JFK+50) On June 9, 1923, The Nenana News reports  Governor Scott C. Bone* has been informed President Warren G. Harding plans  to "spend six days in the railroad belt" during his forthcoming journey through Alaska.

The President, accompanied by Commerce Secretary Herbert Hoover and at least two other cabinet officers, will travel on a special train departing Seward on July 13.

The News reports also that the President will view the Alaska Highway on his return journey.

*Scott C. Bone (1860-1936) was born in Shelby County, Indiana & became editor of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer & Washington Post.  SCB was founder of The Washington Herald & appointed by President Harding as Territorial Governor of Alaska, 1921-1925.
