MINNESOTA SENATOR-ELECT LEARNS HE MAY HAVE 50,000 VOTE MAJORITY
St. Paul, Minnesota (JFK+50) "What do you think of that? I am the United States Senator from Minnesota!" Those were the words of "farmer-laborite senator-elect Magnus Johnson* when he learned that his majority over Republican Governor Jacob A.O.Preus "would possibly go over the 50,000 mark."
The Senator-elect was speaking over long-distance telephone as he took a break from harvesting hay.
*Magnus Johnson (1871-1936) was born near Karlstad, Sweden & served in the U.S. Senate 1923-1925 & in the U.S. House of Representatives 1933-1935.
