"WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT IS RESULTS"

COOLIDGE LOGICAL CHOICE FOR REPUBLICANS IN '24 SAYS BORAH

Spokane, Washington (JFK+50) On August 11, 1923, The Evening Star quotes Senator William E. Borah* (R-Idaho) saying...

"President Coolidge (is) the logical man for the republican presidential nomination in the next campaign."

He continues...

"Fate and circumstances have made Calvin Coolidge President.  There are some very difficult problems demanding attention."

The Senator specifies agriculture, coal, transportation and foreign affairs.

He concludes...

"What the people want is results.  If Coolidge gives results that's all there is too it.  I think he is an able man.  I want to see him given a chance to make good."

*William Edgar Borah (1865-1940) was born in Fairfield, Illinois & attended the University of Kansas.  WEB served as US Senator representing Idaho 1907-1940.  He was chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, 1924-1933.
