London (JFK+50) On September 27, 1923, The Evening Star reports Dr. Edwin B. Walston* of Des Moines, Iowa, upon arrival here in England, "asserted...that great masses of Bavarians and Prussians are so desperately hungry that they are willing to follow any leader who promises a change."
The surgeon says...
"Practically every class of town dwellers are starved for fats. The usual dessert consists of buttered bread."
*Dr. Edwin B. Walston, born in 1869 in Illinois, lived at 846 Sexth Street in Des Moines, Iowa.
