"MAGAZINE SAYS THEY QUARRELED OVER ANOTHER WOMAN"

FAIRBANKS & PICKFORD FILE LIBEL SUIT AGAINST EASTERN FILM MAGAZINE

Los Angeles, California (JFK+50) On October 31, 1923, movie actor Douglas Fairbanks* and his wife Mary Pickford** announced that their New York attorneys will immediately file a libel suit against an Eastern film magazine.

The Washington Times reports that unnamed magazine recently published a story saying 'America's sweetheart and her famous husband had quarreled over another woman.'

The Times says that the alleged 'other woman,' identified as Evelyn Brent, will join in with Fairbanks and Pickford in the lawsuit.

*Douglas Elton Fairbanks, Sr.  (1883-1939) was born in Denver, CO & became best known for swashbuckling roles in films like 'The Mark of Zorro.'   DEF was a founding member of United Artists.

**Mary Pickford, aka Gladys Marie Smith, was born in Toronto, Canada and became the 1st actress to have a role in a sound film.  MP was a founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
