"TO DISCOVER A DRUG OF THERAPEUTIC VALUE"

VOLUNTEERS WILL LEAD 'PERFECT LIFE' FOR TWO MONTHS

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (JFK+50) On October 29, 1923, "two groups of students of the Hahnemann Medical College* and School of Science...began living a 'perfect life' in scientific experiments which will last two months."

The hope is these experiments will "lead to discovery of a drug of real therapeutic value."

The men who volunteered to be subjects of the experiments will be required to live a 'perfect life' (from a physician's standpoint) for two months.

*Hahnemann Medical Institute (1849-1998) of Philadelphia, PA, founded by Samuel Hahnemann (also founder of homeopathy) taught all the arts & sciences appertaining to a medical education & by the 1920s was a nationally known provider of cardiovascular care.  Today it is Drexel University College of Medicine.
