"FINAL DECISION ON CONVENTION CITY YET TO BE MADE"

COOLIDGE CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS OPEN IN CHICAGO

Chicago, Illinois (JFK+50) On November 19, 1923, the Associated Press reports "reservations for (President Calvin) Coolidge headquarters and (Senator Hiram) Johnson headquarters have been made and a mid-western Coolidge headquarters was opened today."

Reservations were also made for 400,000 rooms at the Congress Hotel* here in the Windy City.  Republican officials, however, claim "the final decision on a convention city (for 1924) still remain to be made."

*Congress Hotel, opened in 1893, is located on South Michigan Ave across from Grant Park.  Presidents who have stayed here include Cleveland, McKinley, TR, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge & FDR.
