COOLIDGE ACTIONS ON OIL SCANDAL MOTIVATED BY SENSE OF PUBLIC DUTY
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On January 27, 1924, The Evening Star reports "political reaction in favor of the (Calvin Coolidge) administration is expected" from the President's prompt action "in making the government's positions on the (Teapot Dome) oil lease scandal known."
N.O. Messenger writes that Mr. Coolidge's actions are motivated by "a sense of public duty and the responsibility (of) the Chief Executive." Messenger adds, however, that Republicans expect Democrats "to make all the political capital possible out of the situation."
