ULTRA-VIOLET RAYS RESULT IN WEIGHT-LOSS FOR THE 'FAT' OR WEIGHT-GAIN FOR THE 'THIN'
Paris, France (JFK+50) On February 26, 1924, the Associated Press reports Doctors Livet and VaultIer described to the Academy of Medicine* "excellent results obtained when"...ultra-violet rays** "were applied to a number of obese patients."
The procedure resulted in "a loss in weight from eight to twenty pounds after thirty applications."
The rays were also successful in causing (presumably thin) patients to "put on flesh."
*National Academy of Medicine, first known as the Royal Academy of Medicine, was created in 1920 by King Louis XVIII of France.
**UV radiation is a form on non-ionizing radiation emitted by the sun & artificial sources such as tanning beds. UV radiation produces Vitamin D but overexposure poses risks.
