ANONYMOUS AMERICAN DONOR GIFTS FOOD PACKAGES FOR HALF-STARVING GERMAN DOCTORS
Berlin, Germany (JFK+50) On February 23, 1924, The Evening Star reports 500 $10 food packages "for half-starving physicians have reached Hamburg and will be distributed to the neediest cases through the Alien committee."
An anonymous American donor gifted the packages each containing 120 pounds of staple foodstuffs.
According to the Chamber of Physicians of Berlin* "not 1/10 of the province of Brandenburg are able to support their families on their professional income."
The Star says..."The plight of German physicians is pitiable."
