"CAREWORN FACES & DROOPING FIGURES"

PRESIDENT & 1ST LADY RETURN TO CAPITAL FOLLOWING SON'S FUNERAL IN VERMONT

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50)On July 11, 1924, The Washington Times reports President Coolidge and the First Lady returned to the Nation's Capital today from Plymouth, Vermont "where yesterday afternoon they buried their youngest son, Calvin Coolidge, jr."

The President's father, Colonel John Coolidge, who swore in his son as POTUS last year upon the death of President Harding, accompanied his son, coming to Washington for the first time since his son became president.

The Times describes the faces of the Coolidges as "careworn" and their figures as "drooping."
