"DETAILS FIRST VOYAGE OF COLUMBUS"

300 YEAR OLD DIARY OF COLUMBUS BEING STUDIED BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES IN MEXICO

Mexico City (JFK+50) On July 14, 1924, Associated Press reports that, according to the newspaper El Universal, Mexico "holds the original manuscript of the diary of Christopher Columbus*."

The diary details the first voyage of Columbus in which he "discovered" America and returned to Spain.

El Universal says the manuscript, 300 years old, was purchased by the current owner eight years ago in Havana and "is now being studied by local authorities" who do not doubt its authenticity.

*Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) was born in Genoa & became an explorer & navigator who made 4 voyages to the New World.  Known as "Admiral of the Ocean Sea" he served as 1st governor of the Indies 1492-1499.
