"OFFENSES: INTOXICATION & PROHIBITION VIOLATION"

DC POLICE ANNUAL REPORT REVEALS 20 to 30  DANGEROUS AGE FOR CRIME

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On July 31, 1924, The Evening Star reports that the "dangerous age" here in the Nation's Capital "appears to range between 20 and 30."

This finding comes from the annual report of Captain W. L. Peake, assistant superintendent in charge of the District jail.

Of 7,631 prisoners during the last fiscal year, 2,832 were from the 20 to 30 age category while the second largest number, 2,210, comes from the 30 to 40 age category.

The leading offenses for these prisoners are those for intoxication, and coming in second are those for violation of the national prohibition act.
