"FATHER WAS VIRTUAL DICTATOR IN REPUBLICAN POLITICS"

CONGRESSMAN MUDD DIES DURING RE-ELECTION BID

Baltimore, Maryland (JFK+50) On October 12, 1924, the Sunday Star reports the death last evening of Representative Sydney E. Mudd* (R-Maryland), a candidate for re-election.

Congressman Mudd's father had been "a virtual dictator" in Republican politics in Southern Maryland for two decades.

Rep. Mudd was a member of the Naval Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives and had great interest in the welfare of the District of Columbia in which he grew up.

*Sydney Emanuel Mudd II (1885-1924) was born in Charles County, Maryland & graduated from Georgetown University, BA 1906, LLB 1909.  SEM II served in the US House of Representatives 1915-1924.
