LEGAL TEAMS ISSUE STATEMENTS REGARDING SCIENTIFIC TESTIMONY IN EVOLUTION TRIAL
Dayton, Tennessee (JFK+50) On July 12, 1925, The Sunday Star reports that following last evening's adjournment of the Scopes evolution trial being held here in southeastern Tennessee, both defense and prosecution counsels issued statements regarding their legal conference..."in preparation for the forensic battle over admissibility of scientific testimony."
Prosecutors plan to argue that "scientific testimony...would be irrelevant and inadmissible."
William Jennings Bryan* stated...
"no specialists from the outside (scientists) are required to inform the parents of Tennessee as to what is harmful (to their children). The testimony of such experts...would be offensive."
JFK+50 NOTE
Scientific dating methods indicate the Earth is billions of years old with human beings emerging between 200,000 to 300,000 years ago. They contradict a fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible which indicates Earth is much younger with a more recent creation of human beings.
