JFK RETURNS TO CAPITAL IN DEATH AS LBJ RALLIES GOVERNMENT
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On November 24, 1963, Associated Press reports John F. Kennedy returned to the Nation's Capital "in death" on "a dull, gray dripping day."
The new president, Lyndon B. Johnson, "swung gravely and swiftly into the task of rallying a national government."
Monday, November 25, 1963 has been proclaimed "a day of national mourning" as the 35th POTUS will be laid to rest.
LBJ said in the proclamation...
"I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us."
