BURBANK CLAIMS TO HAVE POWER TO CURE THE ILL BY 'THE LAYING ON OF HANDS'
Santa Rosa, California (JFK+50) On February 6, 1926, Associated Press reports that "plant warrior" Luther Burbank*, who claims the "power to cure the ill by the laying on of hands," says he has demonstrated his power "in 200 or 300 cases" and can "recite results that 'would...make your hair stand up.'"
Burbank, whose religious views recently "caused a sensation," said yesterday that he cured his neighbor several years ago despite four doctors having "given him up."
The plant warrior added that his power "is not supernatural" and that he is too busy to have "the afflicted...brought to him."
JFK+50 NOTE
While the AP report does not specify as to what Burbank's religious views were, he told a reporter shortly before his death..."I am an infidel today. When it can be proven to me that there is immortality, that there is a resurrection beyond...then I will believe."
