"WOULD BE 1ST WOMAN ELECTED TO STATE LEGISLATURE"

GREAT COMMONER'S DAUGHTER CONSIDERING BID FOR FLORIDA LEGISLATURE

Miami, Florida (JFK+50) On March 26, 1926, the daughter of the late William Jennings Bryan, Mrs. Reginald Owen*, announced "that she is considering...announcing as a Democratic candidate for the State Legislature."

Associated Press says if she wins Mrs. Owen would become the 1st woman to be elected to the State Legislature.

Friends of the Great Commoner's daughter say that her ultimate goal is the United States Senate.

*Ruth Bryan Owen (1885-1954) was born in Jacksonville, Illinois & attended the University of Nebraska.  RBO was the 1st woman to serve as an ambassador of the United States to a foreign country (Denmark)
