"DOES NOT BELIEVE PROHIBITION WILL BE PERMANENT"

IF ENOUGH MONEY IS 'PLANKED DOWN' CHAMPAGNE IS PLENTIFUL IN THE U.S.

Havre, France (JFK+50) On June 11, 1926, Associated Press reports that Count Chandon Moet and M. Henri Moet, "representatives of the famous champagne family" say that their product "can be obtained anywhere in the United States if enough money is planked down."

The Moets have just returned to France after a visit to America.  AP quotes them as saying...

"Our brand is supposed to be sold in the U.S. only by druggists for medicinal purposes and it is immaterial to us whether or not it is used for bathing."

Henri Moet does not believe prohibition will be a permanent fixture in the United States.

JFK+50 NOTE

Moet & Chandon was established in 1743 by Claude Moet.  Today the company owns 2900 acres of vineyards & produces 28 million bottles of wine yearly.  Their best known label, and James Bond's favorite, is Dom Perignon.
