"THOSE MOLESTING FOREIGNERS WILL BE SHOT!"

AMERICAN GIRL RESCUED FROM ATTACK OF CHINESE STRANGLER

Peking, China (JFK+50) On June 21, 1926, Associated Press reports that on June 8th one Miss Manly, an American visitor here in Peking, "was dragged from the rickshaw* in which she was riding by an unarmed Chinese who tried to strangle her."

The victim, slightly injured, "was rescued by bystanders who handed over her assailant to the police."

AP says that from now on "any Chinese found molesting foreigners will be immediately shot."

*rickshaw is a light two-wheeled hooded carriage which carries 1 or 2 passengers.  It is pulled, paddled or driven by one person.
