"TOO WEIGHT-CHALLENGED TO MAKE THE TRIP"

"FATTY" PALMER, DADE COUNTY INMATE, LEFT BEHIND AS TRANSFER TO NEW HOME IS MADE FOR OTHERS

Miami, Florida (JFK+50) On July 7, 1926, The Evening Star reports that today "inmates of the Dade County farm...were transferred to their new home at Kendall."

That is, all but one.

"Fatty" Palmer was left behind, "tipping the scales at 450 pounds," he was too weight challenged to make the trip with the others.

In fact, he could not leave the house to be taken anywhere.  Fatty is confined to a house on the Dade County farm because authorities haven't been able to get him out of a door or window.

But they do have a plan.

Mr. Palmer's house will be hoisted lock, stock and Fatty onto a portable derrick which will then be "conveyed to the new farm."
