ILLINOIS SENATOR MCKINLEY'S CONDITION UNCHANGED
Martinsville, Indiana (JFK+50) On September 2, 1926, Associated Press reports that "the condition of (Senator) William B. McKinley* (R-Illinois), who has been near death...since Tuesday, was unchanged early today."
The Senator is suffering from sciatic rheumatism** and has been receiving treatment at the Home Lawn Sanatorium here in Martinsville since August 18th.
JFK+50 NOTE
Senator McKinley died at the age of 70 on December 7, 1926. Home Lawn Sanatorium, located on East Washington Street in Martinsville, Indiana, was a famous health resort and mineral springs spa.
*William Brown McKinley (1856-1926) was born in Petersburg, Illinois & educated at the University of Illinois. WBM served in the US House of Representatives 1905-1913 & 1915-1921 & US Senate 1921-1926. He was campaign manager for William Howard Taft in 1912.
*sciatica is a set of symptoms caused by a herniated lumbar disc including pain in the lower limbs.
