SHERLOCK HOLMES CREATOR SAYS SPIRITUALISM IS STRONGLY ENTRENCHED IN AMERICA
New York City (JFK+50) On June 22, 1922, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle*, "confessed to regret...that the time had come for him to leave America."
The creator of Sherlock Holmes and "genial ambassador of spiritualism**," in a "last minute" interview at the Ambassador Hotel***, expressed the view that spiritualism is "strongly entrenched here" and America "will set the pace for a world...plunged in materialism."
Sir Arthur said that this movement "will change the trend of thought, curb selfishness, crush the super materialism of the age and build a basis of spirituality."
*Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was born in Edinburgh, U.K. & became a writer & physician. He created the Sherlock Holmes character in 1887 with the first of four novels & 56 short stories which are milestones in crime fiction.
