REDS VIRTUALLY 'READ OUT' OF FARMER-LABOR CONVENTION
St. Paul, Minnesota (JFK+50) On June 16, 1924, "the communist party was virtually read out of the Farmer-Labor* Progressive convention" meeting here in St. Paul.
Senator Robert M. La Follette (R-Wisconsin) had disowned the convention because, according to the International News Service, they gave communists "places of importance in...framing the organization and personnel for the session which starts tomorrow."
*Farmer-Labor Party (1918-1936) was founded in 1918 in Minnesota as a result of falling agriculture prices & worker wages along with rising retail prices during WWI.
