LLOYD GEORGE TO ASK HOUSE OF COMMONS FOR VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
London (JFK+50) On March 20, 1922, the Associated Press reports that Great Britain's Premier Lloyd George* plans to return to London next week "and ask the House of Commons for a vote of confidence."
The Premier, speaking yesterday at Criccieth Chapel, said...
"The higher you climb the colder it becomes and the lonelier you find it."
According to John Maurer of Real Clear Defense, Lloyd George was concerned with Britain being "outdistanced" by the naval capacity of the United States and by accepting the American proposal for naval reduction, the British managed to "avoid the nightmare of an expensive competition in capital ships."
