LADY ASTOR COMES TO LLOYD GEORGE'S DEFENSE IN PARLIAMENT
London (JFK+50) On December 14, 1922, the New York Herald reports from here in London that when, during a reparations discussion in Parliament, pacifist E.D. Morel* complained about Lloyd George*, Lady Astor interrupted to say...
"Lloyd George won the war!"
To which Mr. Morel of Dundee retorted...
"It's a good job he didn't win you!"
Not to be outdone, Lady Astor replied...
"Better me than you!"
