"YANKEE SLUGGER ACCUSED OF SEDUCTION & ASSAULT"

LAWSUIT AGAINST BABE RUTH WITHDRAWN

 New York City (JFK+50) On April 27, 1923, Miss Dolores Dixon withdrew her lawsuit seeking $50,000 in damages against New York Yankee slugger George Herman "Babe" Ruth*.

Miss Dixon had charged the "Sultan of Swat" with seduction and assault.

Mr. Ruth's attorney, Hyman Bushell, requested dismissal of the case citing he had a signed confession from Miss Dixon admitting the lawsuit was part of a frame-up.

At the time of the announcement, Babe Ruth was in training in the South.

*G.H. "Babe" Ruth (1895-1947) was born in Baltimore, MD. & became a major league baseball player for the Boston Red Sox, NY Yankees & Boston Braves.  GHBR was 7 times World Series Champion, 12 times American League Homerun leader, 5 times American League RBI leader.  He was inducted into the BB Hall of Fame in 1936.
