D.C. TO LEAD NATION IN PAYING HOMAGE TO GEORGE WASHINGTON ON ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BIRTH
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On February 22, 1925, The Sunday Star reports the city of Washington, D.C. "will lead the Nation tomorrow in paying homage" to George Washington, 1st POTUS, on the first Monday following the anniversary of his birth.
There will be "impressive ceremonies sponsored by patriotic societies, civic organizations and representatives of public and private life of the Nation's Capital."
The Star says that today, Sunday, representatives of the Washington National Monument Society and the Society of Natives of the District of Columbia will lay wreaths at the base of the Washington Monument.
Also, Commissioner Cuno H. Rudolph* will lay a wreath at the Statue of George Washington in Washington Circle.
*Cuno Hugo Rudolph (1860-1932) was born in Baltimore, Maryland & served as president of the Board of Commissioners of the District of Columbia, 1910-1913 & 1921-1926.
