MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO BE PAID BACK BY GOVERNMENT TO VARIOUS OIL COMPANIES
Wichita, Kansas (JFK+50) On March 27, 1925, Associated Press reports from 12 million to 17 million dollars will be paid back by the government of the United States "to various oil companies...as a result of a decision of Federal Judge John C. Pollock* filed today."
The decision came as a result of "a test case brought by the Derby Oil Company," located here in Wichita, to recover $6,590.18 in transportation taxes paid in 1919.
*John Calvin Pollock (1857-1937) was born in Belmont County, Ohio & was educated at Franklin College (A.B.) JCP served as Judge of U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas 1903-1937.
