"MEMBER OF LEXINGTON MILITIA, APRIL 1775"

CAPT. JOHN COOLIDGE DESCENDANTS IN TOWN, VISIT WHITE HOUSE

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On April 24, 1925, The Evening Star reports President Calvin and Mrs. Coolidge will receive "several relatives...in the blue room of the White House" this afternoon.

The relatives ",,,are all descendants of Captain John Coolidge* of Plymouth, Vermont" who was a member of the Lexington, Massachusetts militia which responded to the alarm of the approach of the Redcoats in April 1775.

The group of Coolidge relations are in the Nation's Capital to attend a meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution & include Mrs. Lettes McWain-Morgan, "the nearest relative of the President outside of his immediate family.

*John Coolidge (1756-1822) was born in Bolton, MA & served as a private in the American Revolutionary War.  JC was given the title of Captain after the war.  JC was the great-great grandfather of President Coolidge.
