"NAME ENGRAVED & PASS IS NUMBERED 1"

PRESIDENT GETS SEASON PASS TO NATIONAL LEAGUE GAMES

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) On April 6, 1925, The Evening Star reports President Calvin Coolidge has been presented with "half a small gold baseball" by the president of the National League, John Heydler*, which serves as a season pass to the league's baseball games.

The Star says...

"The President's name is engraved on the flat surface and the pass is numbered 1."

Mr. Heydler invited Mr. Coolidge to attend the 50th anniversary of the NL game to be played in Boston between the Cubs and the Braves on May 8.

*John Arnold Heydler (1869-1956) was born in La Fargeville, New York & worked in the U.S. Government Printing Office.  JAH was a NL umpire 1895-1898 & NL president 1918-1934.  He helped establish the Baseball Hall of Fame.
