"is concrete evidence of the existence and purpose and effect of the agreement for the limitation of naval armament, and also because of its scientific equipment."
According to Associated Press, the USS Saratoga is 33,000 tons in weight and carries 72 airplanes (including 31 bombers). Its cost is $15 million.
*Curtis Dwight Wilbur (1867-1954) was born in Boone, Iowa & graduated USNA 1888. CDW served as Secretary of Navy 1924-1929 & as judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals 1929-1945.
**USS Saratoga (1922-1946) was built by the New York Shipbuilding Corporation of Camden, NJ in 1922 & launched in 1925. The aircraft carrier was sunk in an atomic bomb test in 1946. She served in WWII with 2,791 personnel & participated in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
