"NOMINATED BY NATIONAL CONSERVATIVE BOURGEOIS"

HINDENBURG ACCEPTS NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENCY OF GERMAN REPUBLIC

Berlin, Germany (JFK+50) On April 8, 1925, Associated Press reports that Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg* "was nominated today as a candidate for President of the German Republic by the National Conservative Bourgeois bloc."

The Field Marshal "has agreed to stand for the office" and will be running against former chancellor Wilhelm Marx in late April.

*Paul von Hindenburg (1847-1934) was born in Poznan, Poland & served in the Austro-Prussian War (1866) & WWI (1914) where he acclaimed fame as the hero of the Battle of Tannenberg.

PVH served two terms as president of the German Republic (1925-1934) defeated Adolf Hitler in the Election of 1932.  He was succeeded by AH in 1934.
