KARA KENNEDY ALLEN DEAD OF HEART ATTACK
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) Kara Kennedy Allen, the daughter of the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts & wife Joan, died Friday after suffering a heart attack following a work out at a gym about a mile from her home.
Kara, known for her fighting spirit, was a cancer survivor who ran 5 miles a day.
Her brother, former Rhode Island congressman Patrick Kennedy, told the AP, "Her heart gave out" after her many treatments for cancer.
Kara Kennedy Allen, divorced from husband Michael Allen, leaves a 17 year old daughter, Grace, & a 14 year old son, Max.
Kara was born in Bronxville, New York on February 27, 1960 during her Uncle Jack's campaign for the Presidency.
Michael Allen said:
"Her legacy is one of courage & grit & determination in the face of her own illness & in the face of many family tragedies & limitless, absolutely limitless, devotion to our children."
Kara was a graduate of Tufts University, a trustee of the JFK Library Fund & a national advisory board member of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Funeral arrangements are pending.*

Kara once said this about her Dad, Senator Edward M. Kennedy:

FIDEL ARRIVES IN THE BIG APPLE
New York City (JFK+50) Cuban premier, Fidel Castro, arrived today in New York City.
Castro is to head the Cuban delegation to the United Nations & will address the UN General Assembly.
The Premier & his party will be staying at the Theresa Hotel in Harlem where he plans to meet with Malcolm X & Langston Hughes.*
*On September 26, 1961, Fidel Castro will give a 4 hour speech to the UN General Assembly in which he criticizes US "imperialism" as well as its policies in Latin America, Asia & Africa.

DAG HAMMARSKJOLD DEAD IN PLANE CRASH
Salisbury, Rhodesia(JFK+50) United Nations Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold was killed today when his Swedish DC6 airplane crashed in northern Rhodesia.
The Secretary-General was on a trip to meet Moise Tshombe, leader of the province of Katanga & to negotiate the crisis in the Congo.
Mr. Hammarskjold was elected Secretary-General of the UN on April 7, 1953.
15 others aboard the aircraft were also killed.*
*Dag Hammarskjold received posthumously the 1961 Nobel Peace Prize.
JFK said: "Dag Hammarskjold is dead, but the United Nations lives on."

JFK SPEAKS TO THE NATION ON TEST BAN TREATY & TAX CUT BILL
Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) President John F. Kennedy tonight took to America's airways, radio & television, to speak about the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty which is to come to a vote in the Senate & his tax cut proposal which is to be considered by the House.
Confident that the Test Ban Treaty will pass, JFK spent most of the address on the topic of the Tax Cut Bill.
JFK said his bill to reduce Federal taxes would spur economic growth & create jobs.
The President said:
"I do not say it will solve all our economic problems, but this bill is the keystone of the arch."

THE ROCKET FANS TWENTY....AGAIN!
Detroit, Michigan (JFK+50) William Roger Clemens, pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, has done it again 10 years after setting the record for 20 strikeouts in a single game.
Clemens, pitching here in Detroit against the Tigers, got the final out, a strikeout, & victory against Travis Fryman in the bottom of the 9th inning.
The Red Sox ace was effective using his blazing fastball & nasty splitter.
