"NEW YORK FEARS NEW BOMB OUTRAGE"

POLICE GUARDS PROTECT ALL PUBLIC BUILDINGS & CHURCHES IN FINANCIAL DISTRICT

New York City (JFK+50) On September 19, 1920, the headline in The Washington Times reads...

"NEW YORK FEARS NEW BOMB OUTRAGE."

The newspaper reported that police officials had received a tip of a "fresh plot" and, in response, guards on Wall Street were increased.  The plot was alleged to have been planned by "radicals."

Police guards were placed around all public buildings and churches located in New York City's financial district.

These precautions came on the heels of a bomb blast outside the J.P. Morgan bank headquarters located on Wall Street on September 16th.

The blast took the lives of more than 30 persons and injured hundreds more in addition to causing massive property damage. That explosion was thought to have been the work of radical elements.
