"SOON EVERY TOWN OF 2500 WILL HAVE ITS OWN GOLF COURSE"

GOLF IS SWEEPING AMERICA & THE WORLD

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (JFK+50) On September 1, 1920, George Ade*, writing in Canada's Maclean's Magazine**, predicted "golf is sweeping America in such strides that soon every town of 2500 will have its own (golf) course."

Ade writes...

"Numerous millions of dollars will be expended within the next ten years for tees and fairways and greens and traps and water pipes and horse-mowers."

He continues...

"Men...are going to find in golf a real elixir of youth.  It is in order to announce: Look out for your husbands! Golf is coming!"

*George Ade (1866-1944) was born in Kentland, Indiana & graduated from Purdue in 1887.  GA was a reporter for the Lafayette Morning News & the Chicago Record.  He was a syndicated columnist, playwright & author of such works as "Fables In Slang" (1900).
