"ONLY PRESIDENT TO BE IMPEACHED TWICE"

PRESIDENT TRUMP IS IMPEACHED...AGAIN!

Washington, D.C. (JFK+50) Today, December 13, 2021, President Donald J. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives for the second time.  One year ago he was impeached by the House but was not found guilty by the required majority in the Senate.

Donald Trump is the third POTUS to be impeached (following Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton) but the only one to be impeached twice.  Ten Republicans joined the Democratic majority in voting for the single article of impeachment.

The article charges the President with "incitement of insurrection*" in reference to his role in the attack by his "STOP THE STEAL"supporters on the Capitol last week which resulted in five deaths and many injuries along with property damage.  The attack of December 6, 2021, taking place while the Congress was in the process of counting the Electoral Vote of the Election of 2020, was an attempt to delay or stop the confirmation of the election of Joseph R. Biden.

The final vote was 232-197.  The second impeachment trial of President Trump has not yet been scheduled.  The inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th POTUS will take place on January 20, 2021.  If the trial is held after Trump leaves office and if he is found guilty, it would not be necessary to remove him from office but by a simple majority vote he could be prohibited from holding any government office in the future.

*Incitement is the provocation of unlawful behavior & insurrection is a violent uprising against an authority or government.
